Raj Dhaliwal Stands Firm on Respect and Results After Violent Disturbance at Ward 5 All-Candidates Debate
Calgary, AB – Raj Dhaliwal, incumbent candidate for Ward 5 City Councillor, joined today’s BTV Live All-Candidates Debate to share his vision and solutions for Calgary’s northeast community. Raj believes debates are an important way for voters to hear ideas and hold candidates accountable, and he came prepared to answer questions and debate fellow candidates on how the City of Calgary can improve the lives of Ward 5 residents.
Unfortunately, the All-Candidates Debate was abruptly ended when a group engaged in violent and disrespectful behaviour, requiring event security to intervene to keep attendees safe. There is no place for this in our public discourse. Such actions distract from the real concerns of Ward 5 families.
“Moments like this only strengthen my commitment to respectful engagement with the residents of Ward 5,” said Dhaliwal. “I will continue to show up, meet with residents, listen to their concerns, and deliver results at City Hall—because Ward 5 matters and Ward 5 families are worth fighting for.”
Over the past four years, Raj has worked to improve roads and sidewalks, expand park amenities, and bring new growth such as the Northeast Athletic Facility. His campaign remains focused on safer neighborhoods, stronger services, and practical solutions for Ward 5 families.
Raj is asking for the trust and support of Ward 5 residents so he can continue delivering on the issues that matter most to the families who call Calgary’s northeast home.
